The Energy Transition

Solar power is an ever-increasing component in the UK’s energy mix and an important renewable energy source in the fight against climate change. The UK Government has committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100% by 2050 – known as the net zero target. To achieve this, the government has set the aim to fully decarbonise the power system by 2035; this means a fivefold increase in the development of solar power, to 70GW.

In order to tackle climate change and mitigate against the worst effects of our changing climate, it is imperative we switch our energy systems from fossil fuels to renewables like solar and wind. Furthermore, this transition can have huge economic benefits, provide energy security within the UK, whilst improving our lives, communities, and environment.
