A commitment
to sustainability
With a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, Galileo Empower understands the pressing need to transition away from fossil fuels and towards clean, renewable sources of energy. Our team of experts brings together a wealth of experience in renewable energy development, ensuring that each project is not only technologically outstanding but also minimises its impact upon the local environment.
With over 6000MW of renewable energy in development, the team at Galileo Empower are establishing themselves at the forefront in the development and operation of renewable energy assets.
The Team
L to R: Simon Coles, Rob Paul, Joe Winton, Michael Lamerton
Rob Paul, Joe Winton and Simon Coles have been working together since 2007 on various renewable energy developments. In 2010, they launched their own development company predominantly focused on single 500kW wind turbines under the Feed in Tariff regime. With the winding up of the Feed in Tariff in 2015 they diversified into other renewable and business streams, including large scale solar development. In 2021 they achieved consent for a 50MW solar farm near Barnstaple in Devon; this was the first project of this size to gain planning permission in the southwest and is now operational and remains one of the largest operational solar farms in the UK.
In 2021 Rob and Joe partnered with Galileo Empower to set up a Welsh development office focusing on the development of a large-scale wind portfolio with co-located solar and battery storage. From this relationship, Galileo Empower Renewables was founded in early 2024 to focus on the English solar and battery storge market.
Rob, Joe and Simon bring a wealth of knowledge across all stages of the development process and their shared 50 year plus experience gives projects the best possible chance of success. Having worked with numerous landowners over the years, they aim to provide a friendly and amenable approach and understand what’s important to you as farmers.
Michael Lamerton started his renewable energy career in 2006 working in wind farm land acquisition. With the launch of the Feed in Tariff, Michael transferred his wind energy skills to solar farm site acquisition. He has continued in this field since, working with a number of the UK’s leading renewable developers and he brings with him over a decade of experience in acquiring and developing large scale solar sites.
With over 70 years combined experience in the renewable energy field, the team at Galileo Empower have delivered on the development of numerous renewable energy projects across the UK, predominantly wind and solar power. We pride ourselves on our personalised approach to working with landowners and our dedication to the transition to renewables.
